Our sense of sight

Our new science topic this term is 'The 5 Senses'. This week we have been exploring our sense of sight and how much we rely on it to go about our daily lives. We took turns to lead our partners around the playground whilst they were wearing a blindfold! The boys and girls agreed it was quite a scary experience to begin with, but soon they began relying on their other senses to help them!

During Big Maths this week, the children have been learning to measure surface area. We used counters and gem stones to measure the area of a variety of shapes. We found that the cat shape had the largest surface area with it requiring 179 gem stones!

The Three Little Pigs

 Our fairy tale this week during topic time has been 'The Three Little Pigs'. Just like in the story, the children tried to make houses of straw, sticks and bricks! We decided unanimously that the brick houses were the strongest, although it was lots of fun using our imagination to create our designs!
